DeepEcho Expands Global Reach of AI-Powered Prenatal Ultrasound Through Butterfly Network Integration
DeepEcho combines its prenatal ultrasound AI with Butterfly’s handheld imaging platform, supporting international expansion. In the United States, the integrated solution is currently available for training and educational purposes only.
NEW YORK, October 23, 2026 — DeepEcho, a medical technology company developing AI-powered prenatal ultrasound, today announced the completed technical integration of its AI technology with Butterfly Network, Inc.’s (NYSE: BFLY) handheld ultrasound platform. The integration supports DeepEcho’s international expansion strategy and its goal of bringing prenatal ultrasound beyond specialist clinics. In the United States, the DeepEcho–Butterfly integrated solution is currently offered only for training and educational purposes; it is not available for clinical diagnostic use or patient management.
The integration brings together DeepEcho’s automated fetal image analysis, anatomical segmentation, measurements, and reporting technology with Butterfly’s portable ultrasound platform. It creates a foundation for future market expansion, subject to applicable regulatory requirements and country-specific availability. In the US, demonstrations and training are not intended to support clinical decisions or replace established prenatal ultrasound examinations.
“By combining our AI with Butterfly’s handheld ultrasound platform, we’re taking an important step toward bringing high-quality prenatal assessments beyond specialist clinics and closer to patients,” said Youssef Bouyakhf, CEO and Co-Founder of DeepEcho. “This integration gives us the opportunity to accelerate our international expansion and make prenatal ultrasound accessible in primary care, including in communities where access to specialist imaging has traditionally been limited.”
“Every pregnant woman should have access to quality prenatal care close to home,” said Saad Slimani, M.D., Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder of DeepEcho. “Our goal is to equip frontline providers with practical ultrasound tools, supported by training and clinical evidence. Integrating DeepEcho with Butterfly’s portable platform is a step toward that goal, with clinical deployment guided by local regulatory requirements.”
From a Successful Pilot to Regional Deployment in Morocco
DeepEcho has already demonstrated the real-world impact of its technology through a successful pilot with Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region.
The pilot reached 416 pregnant women, trained 27 midwives, and reported a 67–75% reduction in examination times, bringing prenatal ultrasound closer to rural communities where women previously traveled an average of 90 kilometers to access hospital-based imaging.
Building on these results, the Moroccan health authorities have expanded this locale initiative into a regional deployment programme demonstrating the potential for DeepEcho’s technology to scale from local pilots to broader public healthcare systems.
The initiative was recently featured in 7News Morocco: A Scan Without the Hospital Trip: AI Reaches Rural Mothers.
With the Butterfly integration, DeepEcho plans to pursue expansion in international markets, particularly where primary care providers have limited access to specialist imaging. Any clinical deployment of the integrated solution will depend on applicable local regulatory requirements. In the United States, its current availability remains limited to training and education only.
